Renal Artery Duplex

We will perform a detailed scan of renal arteries to evaluate the vessels that supply blood to the kidneys
Common examples for having this ultrasound scan are:

• Look for blockages or narrowing of the renal arteries which may contribute to hypertension or renal dysfunction.

• Monitor existing renal artery disease, or follow-up after surgical intervention.

We will provide a Radiologist report within 24 hours. 

 

Pre-scan preparation
Need to expose lower part of the abdomen so ideally wear 2 piece garments i.e pants and top.
8 hours of fasting required.
No breakfast if morning appointment / no lunch for an afternoon appointment. Clear fluids are allowed.
For diabetics maintain food intake but avoid fatty or dairy products.
Maintain normal medications.
